Students work within each unit of study at their own pace. They each have an individual lesson track to follow that tells them which videos, practice assignments, and mastery checks to complete based on their current understanding as demonstrated through the unit pre-test. Students only move from one lesson to the next when they have demonstrated mastery (80% or above) of the current lesson.

Teachers create a short, instructional video for each lesson that students access online to learn the skills or content for the course. Students work through videos, along with hand-outs, that are appropriately challenging for them, asking questions when necessary. The instruction is designed so that students can move through the content independently, allowing teachers to work with students one-on-one or in small groups to assist with understanding.

Each student works through a process of practice, revision, reassessment (when necessary), reflection, and mastery. The goal is not to move through content, but for students to truly understand content and to be able to demonstrate understanding. The grade students receive is based on the mastery check for each lesson and the overall unit assessment.
